Sony and the developer Guerrilla Gomes announced that the second closed test of Horizon: Horizon Hunters Gathering would take place from 22 May to 25 May. Interested players can now register through PlayStation Beta, and the tests will be opened on PlayStation 5 and the PC (Steam) platforms.

Two new hunters were added to the test to bring more diversity to team configuration and style. Players will be able to try Ernsa (an Othran smuggler with a mercenary background) and the Shadow (an undercover Calga agent who can command a powerful Stalker machine). These new players will be added to the returning roles Rem, Sun and Exxo, all of which have been further optimized on the basis of player feedback. In addition to the new role, a new feature chapter will be opened during the test. The task of providing a driving story, presenting new mechanisms, enemies and background stories. In this chapter, players will venture into the valley of grey water in response to growing machine threats. This closed test raised the difficulty limit for the core model. The return of the machine-incursion pattern has added a difficult and uncomplicated option, reinforcing the fight against a wave of hostile machines and powerful Boss, such as Thunderbolts and looters. At the same time, the abyss has expanded into a more complex, multi-phased challenge requiring close coordination and teamwork to overcome the increasingly brutal experiences.

Horizon: The Hunter Pool is a multi-person tactical cooperative action game set up in the horizon universe, where players can form up to three people in teams, playing unique hunters of all styles and weapons (e.g. Axle, Rem, Sun, etc.) to fight deadly machine threats. The game introduces the Rogue-lite-style quality and hierarchy system. In a mission, a player can collect randomly dropped power enhancement (Power-ups) and skills (Perks), with a different style of combat in each game. Horizon: The Hunter Pool is still under active development, and Guerrilla Games continues to stress the importance of early small-scale game testing to improve the core game experience. The feedback gathered at this stage will have a direct impact on future updates and larger-scale testing.
