Steam’s restrictions on adult games have been tightened again, and following the release of the official ban on adult games at the end of August (Early Access), developers have now claimed that Steam does not allow the up-to-date game to update the NSFW content through patches, which appears to be necessary to avoid developers bypassing the Valve review process and need to be re-examined in the form of a DLC.

According to the Crimson Delight bulletin, Crimson Delight wanted to add NSFW content by updating the game version, but this would circumvent the original review of the game and be viewed by Valve as a loophole, not a ban on external third party Patch.

The development log of the adult game Tales of Legendary Lust, updated by Crimson Delight on September 16, revealed that the team had planned to add more face-to-face scenes to the game while producing DLC, but was refused by Valve on the grounds that it was “not allowed to add adult content to an application that has passed the review”.

However, the provision is not currently in the public service of Valve, and the claim of Crimson Delight is yet to be clarified, but if the information is true, it means that any game that has been checked up will no longer be able to add the adult element through free updating.

Crimson Delight followed up in Reddit by stressing, “In fact, Valve has been trying to protect developers, and they could have cut Steam’s 18+ partition directly, but did not. It is just that the payment processors are increasingly tight and the rules are becoming more stringent.”

Most of the adult distributors are now using a platform they have set up to provide “first-on-first, second-off” full content experience for players, and in Steam to apply for a DLC, but the DLC must again have Valve reviewed, time-consuming, and possibly rejected, processing procedures.
